RESNET training, a mandatory course before you give the examination

RESNET training is a pre- requisite before you can take the examination to get the RESNET Rater certification. The training will make you know how to conduct energy rating for news homes by meeting the regularities of the National Energy Star labelled homes and prepare you to qualify the Home Energy Ratings Systems certification test which is also known as HERS. If you have BPI Building Analyst or a BPI Envelope certification you need not write the exam.

 

The RESNET training will include the examination of a house as a system which includes ventilation and indoor air quality, the thermal envelope, energy and moisture transfer, air leakage problems and its solutions, windows, basic energy load calculations and diagnostic testing using a blower door and a duct blaster.

 

The training in most places is scheduled for five days which includes training and first hand testing, class room training and field works that is accredited through the Residential Energy Services Network. Once the training is complete and you pass the test successfully you are awarded with a RESNET Rater certification.

 

Any one who is a Home Inspector,    Insulation Professional, Home Builder, Architect, Engineer, HVAC Professional and General Contractor can take this examination. After registration, you need to take the RESNET from and Approved Contractor Education and Qualification (CEQ) provider and within 90 days from registration the test needs to be given, failing which your membership with RESNET will be terminated.
